Dr. Brant Thayer, M.D.

Dr. Thayer completed medical school at Oregon Health and Science University and moved to Arizona for the sunny weather and to complete his psychiatric residency at the Creighton Health Alliance - Phoenix. He is a board certified psychiatrist with several years of experience addressing mental health challenges. While every individual comes to treatment with their own strengths and challenges, and many patients prefer either medications or therapy, Dr. Thayer generally finds that most individuals have the most improvement with a combination of both. Dr. Thayer is happy to support patients on their mental health journey by utilizing medication management, therapy, or both.

While Dr. Thayer has experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), most of his experience is in psychodynamic therapy. Psychodynamic therapy aims to understand how individuals that are experiencing current challenges in their mental health are related to previous life experiences. It generally includes promoting a non-judgmental curiosity about one’s self.

Dr. Thayer is also a husband and father and enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and spending time in the outdoors.
